SEGI R&D, a manufacturer of aftermarket automotive security products, and M2H, a small-vessel parts company, announced the official launch of a marine remote starter that opens a new era in vessel operation.

The product lets boat owners and operators start their vessel remotely, regardless of distance, for greater convenience and efficiency. It combines automotive telematics
technology with control technologies for a wide range of small-vessel engines.

Using a smart device such as a smartphone or tablet, users can start the vessel anytime, anywhere, while real-time monitoring lets them check the vessel's location and status and detect potential problems in advance.

For small vessels powered by diesel engines, pre-heating the engine helps extend its service life. The system also monitors the vessel's battery and automatically starts the engine when there is a risk of discharge, and it detects the bilge water level and automatically runs the drain pump.

Park Kyung-choon, head of the SEGI R&D research institute, said, "This launch brings greater convenience to vessel operation, and applying our automotive remote-start technology to boats has helped us build a new area of business."

Plans are under way to supply the new marine remote starter to fishing village cooperatives through the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Suhyup), and it will also be available through major marine equipment distribution channels and M2H's official website.
