SEGI R&D Signs Agreement to Supply Next-Generation Smart Link Devices to SK Rent-a-Car

SEGI R&D (CEO Park Kyung-choon) announced on April 12 that it has signed an agreement with SK Rent-a-Car (CEO Hwang Il-mun) to supply next-generation devices for the advancement of ‘Smart Link’, SK Rent-a-Car's integrated vehicle management solution.

Smart Link is an integrated vehicle management solution developed in-house by SK Rent-a-Car in 2017, and it has been deployed on a cumulative total of more than 100,000 vehicles. Through a dedicated device installed in the vehicle, it collects and analyzes some 10,000 types of vehicle data in real time and offers a wide range of services that help companies manage and operate their fleets with ease.

Smart Link's flagship services include ▲‘Fleet Control’, which provides real-time vehicle location monitoring and integrated management of expenses such as fuel and tolls, and ▲‘Car Sharing’, which lets employees easily reserve and return company vehicles from their mobile devices. It also delivers a variety of solutions tailored to customer needs, such as analyzing driving habits from trip data and providing battery management information drawn from EV charge and discharge data.

The two companies plan to begin producing the next-generation Smart Link device at the end of June and officially launch it in July after testing.

An SK Rent-a-Car representative said, “Through this agreement we expect not only to advance the Smart Link service but also to reduce costs and stabilize supply by diversifying our device sources,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our service competitiveness for the era of future mobility, including expanding the service to public transportation and two-wheelers based on high-quality vehicle data.”
